R&D Energy Infrastructure
This study analyzes Afghanistan's electricity network, benchmarks it against a developed country, and identifies quick wins for immediate improvements.
About This Project
The goal of the study is to analyze Afghanistan’s current electricity network, benchmark it against the infrastructure in a developed country, and identify actionable “quick wins” for immediate improvements. The findings will be presented to a diverse group of stakeholders including investors, development companies, the Afghan government, and international organizations.
Research Objectives:
- Examine the Existing Infrastructure: Map the current electricity network in Afghanistan, including generation, distribution, transmission, and consumption layers.
- Benchmark Against a Developed Country: Compare Afghanistan’s network with that of a developed country in terms of reliability, technology integration, regulatory governance, and operational efficiency.
- Identify Quick Wins: Propose actionable interventions that can be implemented in the near term to improve system reliability and performance, without necessitating huge capital outlays.
- Develop a Strategic Roadmap: Outline longer-term transformation strategies to enhance network resilience and support sustainable energy growth in Afghanistan.
